Hess early battleship followers L 4” (10.2 cm), W 1.5” (3.8 cm), H with flag 3.13” (8 cm), H w/o flag 1.75” (4.5 cm) The vessels shown were sold with battleships in sets of 2 to 6. They were towed by battleships connected with tinplate strips for the early models, and formed wire for the later models. There are many variations of these to represent smaller accompanying warships such as destroyers, submarines, etc. The only body colors I have observed are orange, blue, red and gray. These were unpowered ships with the exception of a flywheel equipped model which was sold by itself. These were also supplied with poles and paper flags of different nationalities depending on country of export. |
