Hess X Mobil 567, circa 1920s A really unorthodox design by Hess possibly influenced by the Buck Rogers space toy rage of the late 1920s. This car’s propulsion was by a spring propped against a vertical surface. A cap was placed in the receptacle and when the spring was released, the toy was propelled by spring action. At the same time a hammer was released to ignite the cap. See the box instructions for how to operate. Very few were probably produced making this toy hard to obtain.
